Oil tanker train derails in Chuadanga

An Iswardi bound oil tanker train derailed near Chuadanga Railway Station in Monday disrupting railway communications between Khulna-Dhaka-Rajshai-Syedpur for four hours.
The last seven tankers of the train derailed at about 9:30am.
There was no report of spilling the oil, however, railway sources said.
Ainal Hossain, driver of the train told that the train was derailed due to damage on the line. The train was coming from Khulna.
“Total seven tankers derailed from truck due to fault on the line,” Abdul Khaleq, Station Master of Chuadanga Railway told.
Later rescue train from Iswardi began salvaging the oil tankers at about 11.0: am, resumed at about 1.45: pm after the tankers were salvaged.
Around 11000 liters of octane, 8,800 liters of kerosene and 35,500 liters of diesel were carrying the seven derailed tankers.
Senior Sub-Assistant Engineer of Chuadanga railway station Zamir Uddin told that the accident occurred due to faulty line.
“Necessary step to repair the train line has been taken immediately,” Zamir told.
