Democratic Budget movement demands districtwise budget

Democratic budget movement, a citizen’s movement for decentralization of budgetary policy in a press conference in Kushtia demanded announcement of budget on the basis of actual needs of the districts.
Kushtia district unit of Democratic budget movement organised the press conference held at Roots office in Kushtia.
Convener of Kushtia district unit Wakil Muzahid read out the written statement in the press conference. Member secretary of the organisation in Kushtia unit also executive director of Roots, a NGO working for citizen’s rights moderated the programme.
In the press conference, the organisation claimed that development in the country will get a momentum if districtwise budget is implemented.
The key note said budget is very necessary for development of an area. But, if it is not on basis of the needs of the area, it goes in vain.
Leaders of the movement raised separate budget for development of Kushtia including Mohini Mills, renovation of Dakua river, Kushtia sugar mill and re-establishment of railway line outside of Kushtia town.
