Two cases against Jamaat-Shibir in Kushtia, arrested 77 in seven days

Police filed two separate cases accusing 400 Jamaat-Shibir men for attack on police in Kushtia on Monday.
At least seven police including two police officials were injured in the attack.
In this regard, police arrested total 77 Jamaat-Shibir men from different parts of the district in last seven days.
According to police, Jamaat Kushtia district unit led by its Amir Abdul Wahed brought out a rally in the town as part of their central programme.
A police team of Kushtia Model Police stopped the rally at Thana traffic more and asked the leaders and activists of Jamaat to divert another road instead of main road (NS road) to ease traffic jam at about 5.00:pm.
“Suddenly the Jamaat men attacked on police and mercilessly beat up them leaving seven police injured,” told Zoynal Abedin, Additional Police Super Kushtia.
The Jamaat men used brick bats, bamboo sticks and iron road during the attack. “It might have a pre-planned attack,” Zoynal Abedin told.
Of the injured police, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Kushtia Model police Obaidur Rahman, SI Nazmul and constable Ratan and Rakib were admitted to Kushtia general hospital.
On information, additional police forces rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Police arrested 20 leaders and activists from the spot.
Jamaat men also ransacked several shops of the area.
Police on Tuesday arrested 42 leaders and activists of Jamaat and its student front Islami Chhatra Shibir from different areas of Kushtia in night long drive.
The arrested were 12 in Kushtia sadar, 10 in Khoksa upazila, 7 in Bheramara upazila, 7 in Mirpur, 3 in Daulatpur and 5 in Kumarkhali.
Police on Thursday night arrested more nine Jamaat and Shibir men.
“Police drive will continue to arrest the Jamaat-Shibir men,” Zoynal Abedin, Additional Police Super Kushtia told.
Mofiz Uddin Ahmed superintendent of police Kushtia  told that no one involved in the attack on duty police will be spared.
