AL men on open terrorism in Kushtia

Criminals belonging to ruling party ransacked and torched establishments including a temple of Hundu community, house and business shops of a former municipality commissioner in Khoksa upazila in Kushtia on Thursday morning.
The criminals also ransacked the office of Khoksa upazila unit BNP as the councilor was a BNP activist.
According to sources, Abul Kalam Azad, the former councilor engaged in altercation with Publicity secretary of Khoksa upazila unit Awami League (AL) Sudhangsu Kumar Madhab over a paltry matter at about 7.30:am in front of their house. Both were neighbours.
At one stage, Azad slapped Madhab and left the spot.
After the incident, a group of AL activists led by Khoksa upazila unit general secretary Babubl Akter went to the house of Azad at Janipur at about 10.30:am and started to ransack. The ruling party men vandalised six rooms of Azad’s house and took the things including furniture and cloths out of the house and torched.
The ruling men vandaslied a hindu community temple, adjacent to the house of Azad.
Later, the same group went to Khoksa bazaar and vandalised three decoration shops owned by Azad and looted things from those.
Then the unruly ruling party men attacked the upazila BNP office at Thana more and vandalsied the office.
Sources said this anarchy continued for about two hours but police did not rush to any of the spot. After the incident, all shops owners of the upazila town shut down their establishments. No business establishment was opened till filing this report at about 2.00:pm.
Horendranath Saha, Officer-In-Charge (OC) of Khoksa police station confirmed the incident saying that “the situation is now brought under control”.
“I have no comment but police will investigate the matter,” OC said.
When contacted, Babul Akter, Khoksa upazila AL general secretary told that Azad and Madhab had previous rivalry. Men belonging to Madhab took part in the incident.
