1st yr admission test in Islamic University suspended

The first year honours admission test for 2012-2013 at Islamic University (IU) was scheduled to be held on November 17 was suspended as teachers of the university went on indefinite strike to press home their demand for removal of Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Treasurer since Saturday.
According to campus sources, total 88320 students applied to sit in the admission test under 22 departments in this session.
As per the announcement of university admission prospectus, the admission test was scheduled to slate on November 17.
“But now it is difficult to hold the admission in schedule as teachers have declared not to take part in the process of the admission test, so, the admission test was suspended,” Dr. Md. Moslem Uddin, Registrar of the university told.
The registrar office sources said there are a number of processes are involved in the admission test. But many of those are not fulfilled due to uncertain stalemate situation inthe  university in last two months.
Beside, the teachers under the banner of Islamic University Teachers Association (IUTA) yesterday announced a series of agitation programme on the regard. The programme includes forming human chain, press conference, rally and sit-in programme to the VC office.
Professor Dr. ASM Toriqul Islam announced the programme in IUTA office yesterday.
No academic activities were held at the University Sunday, the second day of the IUTA’s refraining programme from attending classes.
The university was resumed on Saturday after a 28-day vacation of Eid-ul-Azha and Durga Puja.
The university was virtually at a  deadlock since September 8 following the appointments of 132 teachers and staffs against 76 posts.
On September 7, a syndicate meeting appointed the staffs.
Different organizations including IUTA, government backed teacher’s organisation Bangubandhu Parishad and Bangladesh Chhatra League blamed the recruitment process illegal.
Since then, all the organisations have been demonstrating for the demand of cancellation of all illegal recruitment, judicial inquiry on the recent recruitment process and removal VC Professor Dr. M Alauddin, Pro-VC Professor Dr. Kamal Uddin and Treasurer Professor Dr. Sahjajahan Ali.
