One killed in clash between AL factions in Kushtia

One people was killed and at least 20 were injured including two women in a clash between two groups of Awami League (AL) over occupying of a beel (water body) in sadar upazila in the district yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Moslem Uddin, 60 of Alampur in sadar upaizla.
The clash erupted when two groups—one led by Akteruzzaman, general secretary of Kushtia sadar upzila unit AL also chairman of Alampur Union Parishad and other by Sohrab Uddin, a local AL leader went to take over the water body o Monday morning.
According to police, a long standing conflict had between the two groups over establishment of their control on the beel.
“Both groups locked in fight when they went to occupy the beel on Monday at about 8.30:am,” Shikdar Moshiur Rahman, Officer-In-Charge (OC) of Kushtia Model police station told.
One Moslem Uddin, 60 belonging to Akterruzzaman group died on the spot.
Both groups used various lethal weapons during the clash.
Of the injured, four were admitted to Kushtia general hospital. They are Sohorab Uddin, 22, Roice Uddin, 49, Santona Khatun, 32 and Saheda Khatun, 22 of both groups.  Additional police forces were deployed at the area as tense situation was prevailing there.
