Arms making factory busted in Kushtia

Police busted a machineries workshop used to making local firearms at Chourangi village in Kumarkhali upazila in Kushtia Monday night.
Police recovered several firearms and bombs from there and huge materials were also found to be used in making the equipments. Police arrested three alleged arms makers.
Zoynul Abedin, Additional Police Super, Kushtia told that they had information about making firearms and bombs at an unnamed workshop situated at Chourangi bazaar, a terror infested area, 22 kilometers off the district headquarter.
The workshop was owned by one Akkas Ali. According to police, a plain cloth police team led by Assistant Police Super (crime) Fakruzzaman Jewel raided at the workshop at about 9.30: pm. The factory was closed with shutter from inside. But workers were working there.
Sensing police, the workers tried to flee through backyard door of the factory.
Police arrested three workers allegedly firearms makers. But workshop owner Akkas Ali managed to flee.
Poice recovered three pipe guns, eight bombs and various materials to making firearms and bombs including gun powder, sticks of nets, iron sheets, marbles, small boxes of tin and little balls of iron.
The arrestees are Suruz Ali, 28, son of Hafez Ali of Aruapara, Hazrat Ali, 34, son of Ahez Ali of Sawta and Safiqul Islam, 42, son of Akam Uddin of Lahini in Kumarkhali upazila in the district.
“Police said the arrestees were admitted to have their involvement of making firearms at the workshop for long and those were supplied to the criminals,” told Zoynal Abedin.
Police interrogating the three arrestees at Kushtia police line when this report was being filed at about 11.00:m.
Police has also launched drive to arrest the owner of the workshop, police said.
