UGC probe body returned back

The three-member probe body by University Grants Commission (UGC) on Wednesday left the campus after its two days investigation into alleged corruption of the university VC, Pro-VC and treasurer of Islamic University (IU).
On Wednesday the probe body checked different files of various sections.
The university registrar Dr. Moslem Uddin told that the body also asked to submit several important files to it within two days over their quarries.
It also met with ruling party supported teacher’s association IU unit Bangbandhu Parishad, which was supporting the ongoing movement of removing the three high officials.  A team led by its president renowned folk researcher Professor Dr. Abul Ahsan Choudhury met with the probe body at VC’s conference room.
The Parishad sources said it provided documents of alleged corruption done by the VC, Pro-VC and treasurer in their four years term.
During talking to the journalists, Professor Dr. Mohabbat Khan, chief of the probe body told that they have finished the investigation and will submit report with a short possible of time.
The probe body came to the campus on Tuesday and started investigation.
Besides, teachers, officers and employees at Islamic University (IU) urged the government immediately to remove its VC, Pro-VC and treasurer to save the university which has been at a deadlock for last nearly three months since September 8.
They made this call in their series of sit-in programme held in front of university administrative building on Wednesday. Around 500 of teachers-officers and employees took part in the programme. Islamic University Teachers Association (IUTA) organised the programme.
IUTA president professor Dr. Yakub Ali in the chair, the programme was addressed among others by Professor Dr. Matinur Rahman, Mamunur Rahman, Mohammad Selim, ASM Toriqul Islam, Deputy Registrar ATM Emdadul Alam, Dr. Amanur Rahman and Dr. Baki Billah.
The IUTA announced indefinite sit-in programme from next Saturday. IUTA president announced the programme from the sit in.
The university got a deadlock situation after IUTA started movement in demanding removal of incumbent VC, Pro-VC and treasurer for their alleged corrupt practice through recruitment of 132 teachers, officials and employees.
The recruitment was done through a syndicate meeting held on September 7 and 8. Ruling party supported teacher’s association IU unit Bangbandhu Parishad, BNP backed Zia Parishad supported the IUTA’s demand.
No class or examination is being held at the university since the period.
