Two-days Human Rights Theatre Festival ended in Kushtia

The two-day 14th Human Rights Theatre Festival ended on Friday at Bijoy Ullash premises at Kushtia Municipality.
The conference with the slogan ‘Human dignity established itself through drama’ was organised by Manabadhikar Natya Parishad (Manap) Kushtia district unit.
Renowned researcher and high official of Kushtia Islamic University also editor and publisher of Kushtia based English Weekly The Kushtia Times and popular Bangla daily Dainik Kushtia Dr.
Amanur Aman inaugurated the programme hoisting national flag as chief guest.
Chaired by Abdul Kayum, president of Manap Kushtia unit, the festival was addressed among others by drama artists Zafar Ahmed, Prasanta Kumar Paul, Jayadul Haq Matin and journalist Khalid Hasan Sipoy.
As part of the festival, a rally was brought out on the first day. The rally started from Kushtia Public Library ground and ended at Bijoy Ullah Chhattar of Kushtia Municipality.
Total eight plays were staged in two days. Troupes of different Manap’s branches presented the dramas portraying different pressing issues highlighting the human rights.
Regional songs, dance, Palagaan also were arranged in the programmes.
Manap activists from Pabna and Kisoreganj took part in different events. The speakers urged all to be forwarded and speak loudly on human rights when it is violated anywhere as equal right is last alternative of a society.
At the same time, they also urged to work togetherfor resisting communal and imperialist’s forces to establish human rights.
“Drama is one of the effective tools to sensitising all strata of people irrespective of age and class,” they say.
On the concluding day, the organizers felicitated one personality of the district Anwar Ali, Mayor of Kushtia municipality.
