Registration for Malaysia job seekers from Dec-end

Times National Desk - December 3rd, 2012

Registration of Bangladeshi workers seeking jobs in Malaysia will begin at the end of December through the website of Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET).
Khandker Mosharraf Hossain, expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment minister, made the announcement at press conference at the ministry on Sunday.
He said, “Each of the workers will have to spend maximum Tk 40,000 to go to Malaysia and they will earn minimum Tk 25,000 per month.”
The minister said workers unable pay the amount will be able to take loan from expatriate welfare bank.
“The workers will be recruited under the Tree Plantation project,” the minister said adding that Malaysian government will recruit the workers for five years in three phases –first two years, second two years and one year.
The Malaysian government is likely to start recruiting process in January next year.
On November 26, Malaysia lifted a four-year “unofficial ban” to recruit Bangladeshis through signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh.
According to the MoU, Bangladeshi workers will be sent to Malaysia under state arrangements putting an end to the brokers’ meddling.
Two more MoUs were signed on human trafficking prevention and inter-state crimes prevention as per the conditions of the Malaysian government on November 26.
