Voting in the election of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) was suspended in Kushtia for faulty ballot paper.
Dr. Rafiqul Islam Tota, presiding officer of the vote confirmed the matter.
According to presiding office sources, the vote was started at MATS gallery (temporary office of Kushtia Medical College) at about 8.00:am with manual process.
“We found fault in ballot papers at about 9.30: am after 18 voters cast their votes,” Dr. Rafiqul said.
As per the election, two vice president and 10 members will be voted. But in the ballot, one vice-president and one member was asked to vote. The polling was suspended at about 11.30:am.
“We think it a printing mistake. Now next date of the election will be announced after discussion with BMA central body,” Dr. Rafiqul told.
