Fresh programme kicked off at Islamic University

Besiege admn building to resist VC, Pro-VC and Treasurer

Islamic University Teachers Association (IUTA) in a fresh programme declared of besizing the university administrative building from Monday to resist the VC, Pro-VC and treasurer to their going office.
“The besiege programme will continue everyday until their removal,” told IUTA president professor Yakub Ali.
The teacher’s body announced the programme yesterday in its every day’s sit-in pogramme¬† in front of administrative building that has been continuing since November 12.
Besides, three top officials includingthe VC, Pro-VC and treasurer did not come to campus on Sunday as Saturday.
Registrar office sources said Vice Chancellor Prof Alauddin left the campus on November 20, taking four days’ leave. Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Kamal Uddin has been on 13 days’ leave since November 20 and Treasurer Prof Shahajahan Ali has remained absent since November 20.
They only came to the university on November 27 to appear before a three-member probe body and left the campus on the day.
On the other hand, no official activities are being held at the university as most of the officials and employees have refrained from carrying out any work, a Deputy Registrar of the university told seeking anonymity.
The IUTA leaders on Saturday urged the registrar not to send any file to the VC, Pro-VC and treasurer as the three what they said unwanted on the campus.
IU registrar Dr. Moslem Uddin admitted of ‘collapsing’ the administrative activities at the university.
“The university is centered on teachers-students, if those are out of the activities, the administration virtually gets collapse,” Dr. Moslem told.
The university is at a deadlock since September 8 followed controversy over appointment of 132 teachers and officials in the university on September 7. No class and examination is being held there since the period.  The first year honours admission test for 2012-2013 scheduled to be held on October 17 has been suspended.
On Sunday, addressing theteachers’ rally at the venue, IUTA President Prof Yakub Ali sought intervention of the chancellor of the university also president of the republic Zillur Rahman.
The teachers leaders told that government should take immediate step as the university situation is damaging life of around 12000 students.
The rally was addressed, among others, by Islamic University Bangbandhu Parishad General Secretary Dr Ruhul Kuddus Saleh, former general secretary Prof Mahbubur Rahman, IUTA General Secretary ASM Tariqul Islam, former IUTA president Prof Matinur Rahman, Prof Mahbubur Rahman, Prof. Abu Sina, Dr. Mohammad Selim.
