Global Action Week observed in Kushtia

Education is the work of systematically equipping, particularly the new generation, but generally all members of society, with knowledge, skills and values and, most importantly, the ability to think, in institutions designed for the purpose with people who have been trained to teach and train.

“It is very necessary for women and female children specially in third world country like Bangladesh where these groups are underprivileged and vulnerable,” they said.

The speakers were addressing at a meeting on the occasion of Global Action Week-2011.

SETU, a local NGO organised the meeting held at FWVTA hall room.

M.A Quader, Executive Director of SETU presided over the meeting.

Former president of Kushtia Chamber of Commerce and Industries Ashraf Uddin Nazu, former Deputy Director (DD) of Social Welfare Department Nazrul Islam, another former DD Nazrul Islam and The Kushtia Times editor Amanur Aman.

The speakers emphasized the need of the development of women for the development of the country and hence education is the key to take women to desired development.

In the ICPD action program accepted in Cairo in 1994 the importance of education in the strengthening of the role of women was emphasized; it prepares the foundation for them to obtain a quality of life appropriate for humanity and to enjoy their rights.

Around 50 Assistant Account Officers took part in the meeting.
