Key accused shot dead in Meherpur

A man, the prime accused of AL leader Saidur Rahman Beltu killing case, was shot dead by assailants in Gangni upazila Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdus Salam, 32, son of Mohsin Ali at Pacchimpara under Bamundi union in the upazila.
Gangni police station OC Mizanur Rahman told that locals found a bullet-hit body lying on the Hogolbaria ground around 7:00am.
On information, police recovered the body. He might have been murdered over factional conflict, the OC added.
Police sources said Salam was also 2 no. accused in the case murder of Abdul Alim, a leader of BNP Bamundi union unit.
On November 29, Saidur Raman Beltu, a member of Gangni Thana unit of Awami League, was shot to death by some unidentified criminals at Debipur village in Gangni upazila of the district.
After the murder Salam was absconded. Meanwhile, Rab arrested Salam’s
wife Bithi with firearms reportedly sued by salam in crimes. Bithi is now in Kushtia jail.
